About Adventure in Minds
To be held and understood. To begin to re-align.
Adventure in Minds is your place to slow down. Your place to listen to yourself, to feel held and understood.
AIM exists because too many people are told there’s something “wrong” with them and receive zero support to understand who they are. Gifts are overlooked in favour of gaps, human beings get categorised and some people leave therapy feeling more misunderstood than when they arrived.
We’re intentionally different: not clinical, not rushed, not judgmental.
AIM is centred around my lived experience navigating neurocomplexity within myself, my family, walking alongside children and adults whose needs pull in different directions and learning how exhausting it can be to exist in systems not designed for neurodiversity.
We aim to offer some respite to those who are assessed, questioned and left behind.
Human first, therapist second
I’m Samatha Dawn, founder of Adventure in Minds. I am an integrative, person-centred, neurocomplex therapist, poet, author and beach enthusiast!
I live and work in Cornwall, where nature plays a central role in how I regulate, reflect and reconnect. My resources support, nurture and grow neurocomplex individuals and anyone who’s looking to dive deep into themselves, using inspiration from the natural world.
I don’t just study neurodiversity, I live it, every day. My work and experiences are shaped by navigating life in my neurocomplex family, where ADHD, autism and other differences coexist, clash and intertwine. Our love is deep but so is the challenge of meeting everyone’s needs at once. I started AIM to give authentic guidance to neurocomplex people, from the perspective of someone navigating similar struggles.
Each client is different and my training allows me to draw on a wide variety of techniques and theories to tailor therapy to each person’s individual needs. My work is informed by experiences of supporting people with neurocomplexity, trauma, relationship difficulties and identity transitions, alongside a deep respect for my clients’ autonomy and boundaries.
I encourage you to connect with me, allow me to witness, understand and offer acceptance of your unconventional journey. As we go forward together, I will be your companion, your guide and your footprints in the sand.
You’re welcome to ask questions about how I work, what to expect and whether this is right for you by sending me an email.

The Beauty in Nature Recognises
the Beauty in You
You deserve beautiful experiences.
Nature is a core pillar to our work. The beach, forest and ocean all offer something our nervous systems crave: space, rhythm and permission.
Being outside quietens the noise and helps us feel less alone.
Many of our clients feel calmer walking, sitting or reflecting in nature as we talk. For others, online sessions feel safest. There’s no right or wrong way to experience therapy.
The AIM journey
We’re not here to lead you. We’re here to walk alongside you.
We work slowly, gently and with you, listening carefully to your words, silences and what your nervous system is telling you. We hold your story with care, knowing that too many people have been lost.
Therapy with Adventure in Minds is you-centred and flexible. It might include talking, reflecting or silence, with the use of therapeutic tools if you wish. These may include hypnosis, creativity, somatic work and interoceptive awareness, where we use your imagination, bring gentle attention to the body and notice internal sensations to explore experiences, patterns and emotions in a way that doesn’t solely rely on talking.
These approaches are often especially supportive for neurodivergent people (particularly those with alexithymia) because they offer multiple ways to process and understand what’s happening, rather than relying on words, logic or traditional talking therapy.
There’s no pressure to mask, perform or “fix” what isn’t broken. Let us be your safe harbour.
You may feel misunderstood.
You may feel overwhelmed or disconnected.
You may feel like you’ve been holding it all together for a long time.
You don’t have to do it alone anymore.
